Howdy all! If you are new to Bone Voyage, then welcome to the brand-new website. I hope you have gotten a chance to join us on the server. If not, you can join at bvsmp.com:25566
For those who aren't so new - a big and happy welcome back! It's been roughly two years since the original server shutdown and having to shutter the server always felt disappointing. Nevertheless, I am truly excited to be opening this server once again with a newfound ability to host for much longer/with more ease than before!
The Intro to Bone Voyage.
Bone Voyage MC offers what many other servers do - beautiful builds and a host of custom and familiar plugins/activities to keep you entertained for hundreds of hours. What we offer than many do not, however, is simplicity. While there is plenty for you to do, explore, see, and create, this server's primary aim is to provide a fun environment that has the lightest learning curve and lowest amount of bloat possible.
How This is Achieved
Let's start by discussing structures and builds. Many servers tend to aim for "go big or go home". When you walk into the server, you are surrounded by beautiful, large-scale builds that have taken someone hundreds - if not thousands of hours. Never ending roads, buildings, tutorials, quest locations, shops teleports, and much more fill the large spaces that have been masterfully crafted. For many new players (including myself), it can make your head spin! I found this to be one of the reasons I do not play a lot of larger scale servers. The time that could be spent developing my character and my experience is spent trying to climb a learning curve, attempting to understand my surroundings, or following another tutorial. This is where I believe the heart of our server differs. Instead of copying this formula (or going the exact opposite direction), we attempted to find a middle ground. By no means is our spawn (The City of Jothon) impressive by modern server standards. Jothon's charm comes from its simplicity and utility. We have built just enough to where users can enjoy simple questing, pvp, events, player trading, and much more - however, it is virtually impossible to "get lost". If you want to leave the city to explore the great wilds/build your claim on the world, you are never further than a minute walk from an exit. Your experience is also not dictated on whether or not you participate in the activities created within the city; Your participation in questing or otherwise is completely optional and is truly only a side activity to help you become acquainted with the structures within its walls. Some may call this build style lazy and my explanation overcomplicating lazy building practice, but we hope you can take our word when we say much of this simplicity was not a lack of work ethic - it was made by in the light of the aforementioned design style. Additionally, all content within the server is truly optional. Those who do not participate in X, Y, or Z will not have less fun than those who do. Everything is there for you to enjoy freely, but at its core, this aims to be a true survival multiplayer server.
A Message for Returning Players
For those returning, do not think we have forgotten you! We are still on the same world from 2 years ago and your builds are still sitting comfortably in the world. If you are joining us again, please let us know and we can attempt to help you locate them! Since we do not use towny anymore, an admin or myself will have to give you extra claim blocks to claim the spaces you built. Let us know in the discord in a ticket and we'll be happy to assist.
In Conclusion
Our server is nothing special - but to us that makes it very special. In a server market where everything has to be bigger, better, and more complex, sometimes simplicity provides the most enjoyment. We hope you'll join us on opening day and beyond. Thanks for reading and we shall see you in an update very soon <3
